You deserve recovery
You deserve recovery
All snacks and meals are monitored, either by staff or camera
All meals are eaten together as a house
Meals are not prepared for the residents, everyone learns how to cook and with the help of staff, learn how to serve appropriate portion sizes.
We focus on eating all foods in moderation, and having variety in our meals while applying mindfulness to each snack and meal.
Each resident is required to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day, we do not use meal supplements.
All snacks and meals are eaten at the kitchen table
When first arriving at Blossom we start with mechanical eating- scheduled eating times with portion guidance from staff.
We work individually with each resident on getting them to a place where they are able to build a relationship with self and get in touch with their own internal hunger-fullness cues. This process looks different for each individual as each body is in a different place when they arrive.
We work with a wide variety of eating disorders, being HAES based we believe that every body deserves a chance at recovery regardless of their size, shape, race, age, or gender as long as they are willing to do the work, and are medically stable to attend Blossom program.
Blossom Place is also a clean and sober environment, having coinciding mental health conditions with an active eating disorder is quite common, so we provide additional support and resources around those areas as well.
Blossom Place also provides customizable online packages to provide additional support for those who cannot attend our inpatient program here on Vancouver Island or is not entirely ready for that step.
This option is also great for families that have teens that are struggling with an eating disorder.
We have a unique and firm structured program to provide a safe, loving, and behavioural free environment.
The residents that attend inpatient at Blossom need to be in a place where they are willing to actively work on their recovery.
They are required to be medically stable, therefore be in a place to responsibly take their own medication.
Medication is kept in lock boxes and monitored by cameras but we do not distribute the medication for our residents.
We do not have overnight staff in the house, nor do we have nurses, doctors or psychiatrist in Blossom.
We do however strongly encourage individuals to continue working with their medical team while attending Blossom program.
Support and accountability are available 24 hours a day.
In house surveillance to monitor any active eating disorder behaviours as well as sensors on the fridges and cupboards for additional accountability.
We are very community oriented, the residents in the house really team up as support for each other, which really separates us from a treatment facility.
We teach each induvial how to actively live their life free from an eating disorder.
Blossom Place applies Health at every size (HAES), intuitive eating and body positive models to their approach for treating eating disorders.
With a combination of group therapy, individual therapy, education, coaching, community and body empowerment.
We know that eating disorders do not discriminate, and it can affect any size, shape, race, age, or gender.
We are not a number based facility nor base someone’s progress on their weight. Our focus here at blossom place is to get everyone to a place of acceptance and nourish their own unique body.
By eating all foods in moderation, having variety in our meals, listening to our internal cues and moving our bodies for joy rather than punishment, we begin to break the diet-culture mentality.
While in the process of intuitive eating and movement our bodies will get to a set point weight which is determined by your genetics and history with weight loss/ weight gain cycling.
