Struggling for a long time in the world of an eating disorder, I experienced being alone and afraid with no safe place to go. I walked into recovery in October of 2011. Even as I abstained from drugs and alcohol, I lacked the support to recover from the eating disorder.
In less than a year, I was admitted into hospital. The disorder took on a whole new power and strength that had my body shutting down. The doctor told me that I had to stop, or I would die. The road to recovery — to health and wellbeing — was long and difficult.
In the years since, I accumulated the necessary credentials and experience to found Blossom Place Eating Disorders and Addictions Program, the first recovery house of its kind in Canada, in order to fill the need for the love, support, and expertise that would have greatly benefited me throughout my own journey.
